From Canada: With gratitude for our girls...

Another family completed with SCI...

Dear Dr. Shivani and SCI team,

It is impossible to adequately express our gratitude to SCI, Dr Shivani and our wonderful and very special surrogate, who carried our baby girls for 36 weeks.
As so many others on this journey with us, we have endured years of heartache with numerous numerous losses along the way.

We sometimes were unsure that we would ever be able to have our own children. After finding out about SCI and Dr Shivani, we both felt a peace that we have never had before about the decision to come to India to start a family. God has truly given us two huge miracles in our two precious little girls, Ahna Lee and Adalyn Grace, with the help of Dr. Shivani and the rest of the SCI team.

Throughout the process we found our service to be prompt and professional with SCI, including Dr Shivani and all of the admin staff.

We were blessed enough to meet our surrogate to thank her in person, and meet her husband and eldest son. These were special moments for us and we look forward to telling our girls about the special role she played in their lives. We do not take for granted what she has chosen to do for us, and will be forever grateful for that.

There are so many people who have played many different roles in giving us the most special gift we could ever imagine. We are continually staring at, kissing and cuddling our girls, and reminding ourselves that this actually our real life.

The biggest thanks to Dr Shivani and SCI for your helping us with the greatest gift of our precious little girls. We will be forever grateful,

From Canada,

Jessica, Jonathan, Ahna and Adalyn

We wish this family the choicest of blessings in the coming years and thank them for sharing these special photos.

From Canada: An experience of a lifetime

Reflections from a Canadian Family...

Dear Dr. Shivani,

It’s been exactly one year since you and your team at SCI gave us our precious little boy and I wanted to write you this letter not only to thank you and the SCI team for the priceless gift you gave my wife and I but also as a message to all the people out there who have suffered years of pain and doubt they will ever become parents.

Thanks to Dr. Shivani, the holes that were left in our hearts from a stillbirth we suffered in 2011 were finally been healed with the birth of our baby boy on April 30, 2013.

Many people don’t proceed with International Surrogacy because of  “Fear”
so the purpose of this email is to alleviate any fear that you may have.

1)     FEAR OF FAILURE:

If you are like us, you have endured unimaginable loss or constant rejection and feel it’s easier to stop trying than to face any more.  Can I guarantee that you won’t experience rejection if you try surrogacy? Definitely not.   After all, it took four surrogates before we finally had our precious bundle of joy.  What I will tell you is what someone told me when we were just starting with SCI and they were in India picking up their child… “It will work.  It may take a few tries but it WILL WORK.”

2)     FEAR OF TRAVELING HALFWAY AROUND THE WORLD TO A COUNTRY I KNOW VERY LITTLE ABOUT

My parents were born in India and as a child I visited there 5 times with the last trip being over 20 years ago.  To be frank, my memories weren’t that great – nobody spoke English, nobody had television, and I just couldn’t wait to get back to Canada and go to McDonald’s.

When I first started reading the blogs, the one thing that jumped out at me was how most of the people upon picking up their baby were sad to leave India and how amazing they said their time was here.  I was perplexed.  This can’t be the same India I remember from my youth.

But for the 5 weeks that we were there picking up our baby boy, I can honestly say there was no other place that I wanted to be.  We stayed at a beautiful hotel that was not only filled with other Westerners going through the exact same journey, it was attached to a mall that rivals any one you would see in North America.  It had everything from Starbucks to Pizza Hut, McDonald’s to even a Hard Rock CafĂ©.  If you can go see the Taj Mahal in the morning and cap it off with a Haagen Dazs before you go to bed.

Oh and I forgot to add…if you’re Australian or American you come home within 2 weeks of picking up your baby.  If you’re Canadian, like me, it’s a little longer (about 5 weeks) but that is a drop in the bucket compared to the lifetime of memories you’re going to have with your child.

So if the reason you don’t want to try surrogacy is the fear of travelling halfway around the world, don’t be.

3)     FEAR OF CHOOSING THE WRONG CLINIC

OK, so you’ve decided that surrogacy is for you but now you are wondering “which clinic do I choose?”  Here is our thought process on how we finally decided upon SCI…

1) Choosing a Country – Many countries offer gestational surrogacy but we finally settled upon India for the simple fact that it was one of highest success rates in the world.  We have consistently found that the medical care in India surpasses that of our home.   Dr. Shivani is medically trained in the UK and the medical equipment they use is the same you would see at any hospital in the US and Canada.   Our poor surrogate had to be admitted in the hospital at 28 weeks.  From the first day she was admitted to the birth of our baby 5.5 weeks later we were getting daily updates on her well being.

2) Choosing a City – We chose Delhi over other cities in India because I knew all the head offices were there.  The Canadian High Commission was there so I knew if we had any issues whatsoever in just a 20 minute drive I could speak to someone face to face.

3)     Choosing a Clinic – Now for the most important part.  We finally settled on two clinics.  Surrogacy Centre India in New Delhi and Surrogacy India in Mumbai.  To break the tie I asked both clinics to provide with FIVE Canadian or American references who used their clinics.  Surrogacy India only sent over a couple.  Surrogacy Centre India not only sent me FIVE references but they sent me over five people who first didn’t have any luck at Surrogacy India but then had success using Surrogacy Centre India.   After our first call with a reference who lives only 15 minutes away from our home in Canada we were sold.  One other very important point.

One of the biggest factors in deciding the clinic was how well they treat the surrogate mothers.  I can’t speak to other clinics but at SCI the Surrogates are treated very well. First and foremost,  they don’t hide them beside some secretive well.  We met the surrogate mothers (we used multiple) before the process started and again when we came to pick up our baby.  We even requested to meet her husband and children as we had gifts for them and SCI arranged.   Speaking of family, SCI keeps the surrogate mother with her family during the entire pregnancy.  This was also very important to us as we know most have little children of their own.  In fact, when our Surrogate Mother went on hospital bed rest, they made sure her family was able to visit her every day.

This letter, has officially passed the 1,000 word mark so apologize for the length of it but if I can help guide someone who, like us, been searching for a way to build their family then this has all been worth it.

If anyone wishes to speak with me about our journey, feel free to pass along my email address.

B, A and baby P

P.S.  Attached is the picture of P when we first brought him home from the NICU.

From Canada : Dayenu (It would have been enough)

Another amazing story, full of adventure and hope with a brilliant ending...

Dayenu (It would have been enough)
One of my favourite songs as a kid, was called "Dayenu (catchy tune)." Dayenu means "It would be sufficient." The song marks the Jewish people's rise and escape from slavery to salvation. The song goes something like this: If God only punished our tormenters in Egypt (who forced us to be slaves), that would have been enough. If he only led us out of slavery/Egypt, that would have been enough. If he only gave us a homeland, that would be enough. The song goes on to mention many things God gave the Jews, even though one would have been enough, he gave them all of them!
Dr. Shivani's clinic here in New Dehli and what it has given me, reminds me exactly of this song, for:
1) If they only gave me one child, any child, healthy or otherwise, that would have been enough.
2) if they only gave me one child, that would have been enough.
3) If they would have give me twins and one was unhealthy, that would have been enough.
4) if they gave me twins and they were the same gender, that would have been enough.
5) If I left with a child and didn't feel a forever bond with the other parents and a belonging to a very special group, that would have been enough.
6) If I came home with a child, but didn't have the most amazing story and adventure of all parents in the world and how we finally met 16,000 kilometres away and our incredible stay in a foreign land, with hundreds of friends and family waiting at the airport for your eventual arrival, that would have been enough.
7) If I came home with a child, but never felt I go back to have another child, that would be enough.
8) If as a single male bringing home twins, I would never have an effect on future males wanting to have children or have an effect on people's views of parenting roles around the world forever more, that would be enough.
But you see, this clinic gave me all these things. My name is Steven Mintz and I from Canada.
After so many failures and heartbrakes with other clinics, I came here and on the first try was the lucky father of twins. Their names are Ryan and Emily-Rose, a boy and a girl, and are two very healthy children. I feel as part of group and bond with other parents here as we all share the same hopes and dreams when we arrive here. That's not something I have felt at home before. The adventure here in India has just begun and it is part of the story I am collecting of their births to give to them on their 16th birthday (traditional big birthday in Canada). I know I could come back if needed too, and recommend to all my friends having difficulty conceiving a child which are many. But mostly, the last one, I will have a positive impact on stereotypical gender roles regarding children worldwide and for generations to come. And that would have been enough!
Dayenu

As always, we wish this family the choicest of blessings.

From the USA: A Big Thank You

Another family returns home, babies well loved by their parents, grandparents, family, and friends

Dear Dr Shivani and SCI team
We are very grateful for your help in making our family a reality.

We appreciate the excellent SCI staff (Meg, Margarida, Neha, Yogita, Jyoti, Lalit, Rachna, and Nabanita) who were there for us when we needed their assistance. Thank you as well for arranging the meeting with our dear surrogate (SS) last week. We were quite happy to see her in person to thank her for what she did for us.

The twins are doing well and gaining weight as expected. They are enjoying their time interacting with their grandparents, family, and friends. We will come back to India someday so that the twins experience part of their heritage, and hopefully meet the special people that helped bring them into this world.

With Love
M, S, T & S

From the UK: a baby boy and parenting order completed!

Another happy couple from the UK, with their gorgeous baby boy, parenting order completed and some great feedback:

Dear Dr Shivani and the whole team at SCI,

We are so thankful that we chose you and SCI to help us become a family. We had 10 long years struggling to become a family, first through IVF and then via an ever extending waiting list for an international adoption placement which never happened. I am so thankful that we found you and are now proud parents to our beautiful baby boy. He means everything to us and our family.

From that initial google search to find you, the references you were able to provide, the continual encouragement and support you gave throughout those initial stages. Then the excellent medical care and support for our lovely surrogate. The care you gave for our baby boy born early but healthy. You have been with us throughout our journey.

As a UK couple we had the added struggle of a long wait in India before we were able to leave and then the parental order process at the High Court in London. You continued to help us throughout this process and went above and beyond the call of duty to meet our deadlines and provide absolutely everything that we needed. Our legal council commented that SCI is clearly a reputable company. I am so grateful to you and our lovely surrogate. You will all be in our hearts forever.

Thank you Thank you Thank you!!

A very happy UK couple and our beautiful baby boy.

We wish this family the choicest of blessings and wish them many years of light, laughter and happiness.

From Australia :a baby boy & feedback from a happy family

Another family completed after years of unsuccessful IVF treatment ...

We could not be more happy than we are right now with the birth of our beautiful baby boy.

After many many years of IVF treatments (we think we hold the world record) we decided to come to the conclusion that we would never become parents and that was a really hard decision for us both to make.

Until we heard about SCI and started investigating the possibility of becoming parents. Every step of the way, the information and feedback was amazing. Meg & Margarida with there resource of information was reassuring and so helpful, we will always be enternally gratefull for helping us make the decison to pursue our dream finally.

To Dr Schivani, thank you. The first time we meet you we knew that we had made the right decision. The wonderful team  at SCI for always being there for us

The most important person in the birth of our child was our dear surrogate who will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Thanking You.

The Happiest Australian Couple.

We wish this family the choicest of blessings and years of joy and happiness.

From Australia : the road to our babies...

Sometimes the photo is enough...

My husband and I were married in 2004 and thought like every other couple that a baby would come into our lives as a lovely surprise not long after. We waited and hoped and after a year realised something wasn't right. Fast forward 8 years - and following 13 failed and tortuous rounds of IVF and an adoption application that seemed like a road to nowhere - we arrived at SCI, with very little hope left that we would ever become parents.

To our amazement, we had success in our first attempt with a surrogate and are now the happy - but tired! - parents of twin boys Leo and Noah. We are so grateful for the professional support of Dr Shivani and the SCI team - including their warmth and responsiveness to all of our questions along the way.

And of-course, we will always be indebted to our wonderful surrogate who carried our boys who came into the world so healthy and beautiful.

Sending warm regards from
Karim, Arielle, Leo and Noah -
 NAMASTE and THANK-YOU!

From Australia: a boy

Another family, another rocky road of infertility to travel, with the most welcoming of outcomes...

Dear Dr Shivani, Meg, Margarita and the Staff at SCI,
The birth of our lovely boy Taj, on 10th November has been a miracle and a dream we never want to wake from.

Our path has been a very rocky road like many other clients of SCI. We have participated in another surrogacy program in past years but was unsuccessful.     The addition of Taj has had an enormous effect on our family and friends. Everyone who holds him loves him dearly.

The team at SCI go about their business in a professional manner. Waiting for the monthly scans and reports was made easier by the regular updates we received.

Thankyou to everyone at SCI for bringing us a future. We have felt our lives have been 'on hold' for many years until now.

We would like to express our gratitude also to the Indian Government & Authorities for allowing this to occur.

From the U.S : a Lovely Wonder has been born

What a way to start a new year, with a miracle...

Dear SCI & Blogland,

Wow! We honestly are still surprised we are actually, finally parents. We never thought this day would come. Long story short…we have a healthy baby girl. We went through much of the same heartache as many who are reading this blog and we are grateful that our journey has a happy ending. We were given very low odds of success and had basically given up, but Dr. Shivani and the team at SCI made our dream come true. We named our daughter Lovely Wonder because she is truly a natural wonder and we wonder how we ever lived without her.

Dr. Shivani, the team at SCI & Eden Hospital, and our generous and caring surrogate have been beyond anything we ever expected. We are the happiest new parents imaginable.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

We wish this family the choicest of God's blessings and hope the years ahead are filled with light, laughter and happiness.

From the UK: dreams coming true with our baby boy

After many years on the infertility treadmill, many of our families know a miracle when they see one. Meet one such family...

"Our miracle baby, Jai, came into our family on Nov 16th and our lives changed forever. After much heartache and hardship, we came to see Dr. Shivani in the hope that we too could one day have the child that we have yearned for.

Our journey started in February 2012 and in November we came to Delhi to be present at the much awaited birth of our child. We will never forget that precious moment when the doctor came in to tell us that we have a healthy baby boy. Jai is everything we dreamed of and more. He's made us complete. We've finally become mummy and daddy.

Miracles can happen, it's happened for us.....it can happen for you.

We look forward to the years ahead as Jai grows, develops and becomes a respectable gentleman in his own right.

Thank you Dr. Shivani and all the team at SCI who made our dream come true. Thank you to our surrogate who will always have a special, respected place in our hearts.

Jazz & Harj. UK."

From the U.S :- a handsome chap

The best of Christmas blessings, a handsome chap to complete this family. Congratulations Greg & Lewis, may the coming years bring you much joy, laughter and happiness.

We knew this wasn't going to be the easiest thing in the world to do,
but that has never stopped us before. After 21 years together, we
decided that it was high time to start a family. We thought (and
fough)t about adoption. We tried luring a wayward niece to come live
with us to no avail.

We knew something was really missing in our lives. Our good friends in
San Francisco suggested we contact SCI Healthcare. They had a
beautiful baby girl and by all accounts was just perfect.

Nine months ago we arrived in Delhi- shell shocked from the flight,
but ready to start the process. The first try with frozen sperm was
unsuccessful. Dr. Shivani suggested we come back for a live transfer.
We did to great success.

The months passed quicker than I had expected and we once again found
ourselves in Delhi and in the capable hands of SCI. Our baby was
actually born while we were in the air. When we arrived at the
nursery, we looked around and spotted the most beautiful little baby
boy. I know that was ours.

Due to a delay, we had to stay in India a little longer than planned,
but now that we are home, everything is A-OK. Our little boy is happy,
healthy and a handful.

For those of you thinking of doing this, I can tell you their success
rate is very high. I would also suggest that you stay in the nicest
hotels as possible if you are used to nice hotels when traveling. The
Leela Palace, The Frasier Suites (apartments) and the Lalit were
standouts. It helps that there is a very quiet place to go home to,
where the food is excellent and the amenities are many.

Also, DO opt for the nurse program. For about $38US per day you get
round the clock care. This was vital for us as our nurse taught us so
much. (We miss her!!!!)

Thank you Dr. Shivani and your entire staff. While things did not go
100% as planned in our over-organized American minds, in the end, it
was perfect.

Introducing our best Christmas gift ever:
JAPER KALMBACH OTT
Born November 19, 2012
7lbs. 22"

All the best, Lewis and Greg

From the U.S - the most beautiful sibling project

It is always wonderful when a family comes back and trusts us with a sibling project. A chance to see an SCI baby who is older and introduce them to a much wanted sibling, in this case a wonderful new baby sister.

Dear Dr Shivani and the entire staff of SCI,

We would like to express our deep appreciation to you for helping us make our dreams come true. Looking at our precious new baby and our little girl reminds us of your incredible gift. It is people like you that make the world a brighter place. It has been, and continues to be, an unforgettable and pleasant experience.

From Australia : a beautiful bundle...

As with many of our families, this family spent years struggling with infertility and further years looking into adoption.

We are pleased to say that their journey is finally at an end, another SCI family completed.

Happy Family

We recently were lucky enough to have been blessed by the birth of 2 beautiful perfect baby girls (no bias at all). Words cannot express how thankful we are to Dr Shivani and her amazing team. From the admin staff all the way through to the paediatricians and wonderful nurses who cared for our babies when they were born.

After years of disappointment trying natural pregnancies / IVF cycles / adoption courses etc etc etc, our surrogacy experience was the total opposite.

At present we are sitting in the Svelte hotel, surrounded by a host of new families, all made possible by SCI. We find ourselves sneaking into the babies room to catch a glimpse of them when they are sleeping and we pinch ourselves everytime.

A special mention to our surrogate who has made all our dreams come true and kept our babies healthy and safe.

We can not thank everyone enough
