Dear Dr. Shivani and everyone at SCI --


As I write this, Olivia is asleep on my chest and Adrιán is feeding Clara near a window overlooking a Delhi skyline.  It's the morning after our first truly sleepless night on our own with our daughters, and we're a little groggy, but happy.  We spend a lot of time staring at them, as they eat, as they sleep, just letting it sink in that they're real and they're ours. 


Even under the best of circumstances, having a baby via IVF literally on the other side of the world is a daunting experience, in some ways even moreso for a gay couple.  How will we be treated?  Will two men having a baby (or two!) be an issue?  At SCI, we were treated with warmth and respect.  You and your team did so much to demystify the process for us and patiently answered all our questions over the course of more than a year, as we investigated surrogacy options and saved our pennies.  When other clinics took days to answer our questions, if they answered at all, we always received a response from someone at SCI within hours, even before we were officially clients.  That level of attention continued throughout our pregnancy.


Thank you so much for your professionalism and your warmth.  There's no better testimony to what you do than the tiny girl sleeping on my chest right now.

SCI at Surrogacy Australia Conference ( Melbourne)

The SCI team were privileged to be a part of the first Surrogacy Australia Conference in Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Shivani was one of the first key note presenters; greeted to the podium with a rock star style welcome with much cheering and whooping by those attending the conference.

It was wonderful to meet so many SCI families and those considering and commencing their journey with SCI. Meg & Margarida assisted Dr. Shivani and as a consequence both have no voice left, but many in our SCI family were happy to put faces to names. Dr. Shivani took pride in the number of SCI babies at the creche and the number of families willing to share their stories & experiences with SCI with others.

Dr. Shivani took great delight in reminding us all that she was the first to hold our babies when they were 2-3 day old embryos, delighted by how they had all grown. With much cuddling, cooing, reviewing of photos and telling of stories, a great time was had by all.

We spent many years struggling with medical procedures to try to overcome infertility and just have a family, something that seemed to happen so easily for people around us. We explored adoption as well and while that has been a wonderful road for many we know, it was not so for us, and again we felt further heart ache and truly started to believe that maybe we would never have children.

 Dr Shivani and her team helped change that for us in a matter of months.  Thanks to Dr Shivani and our generous donor and surrogate mother, in March 2011 our beautiful daughter Neve was born in New Delhi. Neve has brought us so much joy! We knew after a few months that we wanted a larger family and without hesitation we turned again to SCI for help. So, now here we are in May 2012 in New Delhi with our miracle twins, Ronan and Gemma. We have three healthy children and so many wonderful memories of our experiences here that the many years of struggle to get to this point have faded into the background.  Dr. Shivani is wonderful at guiding new parents through the process and her team at SCI are great with navigating the system in Delhi to make the exit process as easy as possible.

From India : a family's joy from india

We thought we would take the opportunity to share with you the thoughts of a local family who have become parents with SCI. We feel very blessed and the all the richer as a service, for working with so many different cultures, customs and religions, all with the same common thread, wanting to become parents.

Believe me, Dr Shivani and her entire team (out of which at least 5-6 people whom I had met personally in last several months) have done wonders for us which has strengthened more our faith in God. Her managing the entire project on her own in such a fantastic manner needs vast appreciation (unexplainable in words or mail) and her coming into our life has been nothing short of a God's miracle for us. Her support in our treatment, especially when we had some down phases, has made me indebted and more polite for my lifetime.

Dr Shivani & Dr. Vishal;: During several days of our baby's hospitalisation in DNBC we had seen several other happy parents (national as well as foreigners) and I have told many of them that I haven't found such a professional and noble person in a Doctor like you and they too felt that you are superb.

A personal feedback that DNBC is unmatchable for new borns and no hospital to the best of my knowledge can even think of competing for child treatment(upto 40 days) with them. I had several meetings with Dr. Sandeep Gupta during our baby's treatment and I have found to be totally dedicated to save children lives.

I wish the entire team more particularly but not limited to Gaurav, Yogita, Lalit, Saurbah Ji, Rachna , Aparna, Sucheta , a great career ahead with SCI. The Team SCI should be proud to have Dr Shivani & Dr Vishal as rare mentors and bosses.

"Many time along our lives we listen to people saying that becoming a parent is the best thing that can ever happen. Now I know all those people were 100% right. The road was long , but thanks to Dr. Shivani and her wonderful staff , miracles and dreams do come true.

The other night i was having dinner with some friends , and one of them asked: Why did you wanted to become a father? The long awaited answer was very simple, I said : because becoming a parent and having to travel the surrogacy road in order to become a parent , is probably one of the biggest acts of love that a human can achieve. There is this interesting tale that's states that babies are like stars , waiting up in the sky for their moment to come down to earth. As for me , Ziara found me and I found her , she decided to come to me and I embrace her with the biggest amount of love that a man can provide. From Sweden : Twin Girls From Sweden

It is wonderful to be able to help families from around the globe to achieve their dreams of parenthood. One of the commonest questions we get asked is how long will it take for me to be a parent? The answer is so complex and has so many variables, bur for this lucky father from Sweden, it was less than a year...

"It has been a fantastic trip both within me and now, with two small baby girls, outside of me! I am in so much gratitude to Dr Shivani for all the help I have got from her and her whole great team at SCI, with  Rachna, Jyoti, Deepika and many more.

There are so many stages in this process and the team has been so extremely service minded and guided me through all parts, from the beginning and following me through to the end stage, i.e. sitting in the sofa back home with two girls next to me.

 There was the choosing of the egg donor, the first trip to India, the egg collection, getting my own DNA, finding the right surrogate mother, the contract, the IVF and a very long path of about 8-9 months of USG scans and thorough check-ups of both surrogate and the growing of “something” in her belly! Not until I got a picture of my surrogate’s belly, I was realizing that this “something” inside her belly is for real and might end up in being a baby.

The second trip to India came quite quickly. Arriving at the hospital,I was prepared for a very long wait, but seconds later the door swung open and there was the doctor holding a child. Are you talking to me, I was thinking? Is this mine, looking around in a desperate way of  finding out whether he was for sure not addressing somebody else? So enormously many thought were penetrating my mind and it took me a couple of days to realize I AM A FATHER! Two little baby girls! Now there is the next step CITIZENSHIP and passport and the custody! Small  steps for girls, but giant steps for me if I had not got the support  from the SCI team! from the bottom of my heart

It is with some sadness when we read about some clients journeys, prior to coming with SCI, whether it is a history of years of unsuccessful fertility treatments or clients who have gone with others services and been so badly treated that they become disheartened.

We are so very glad that this story had such a happy ending...

New York City to New Delhi.  It still feels like a dream that we are with our beautiful babies, Juliana and Joseph.  We want to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Shivani and her staff that made our dreams a reality.

When we first contacted SCI, we were bruised and thoroughly disheartened after our first attempt at surrogacy in India through an American company. Having the perspective to compare working with a company versus working directly with SCI, we found each on the opposite ends of the spectrum.  Dr. Shivani and her staff demonstrated themselves to be honest, ethical, encouraging, realistic,and most of all compassionate. 

The medical expertise we received from Dr. Shivani was far superior to our prior experience.  Communication from SCI was consistently clear, prompt and dependable.  I can’t express enough how important it is to have good communication when the parents are on the other side of the world.  It makes a world of difference.

The SCI staff ensured both of our stays in New Delhi were pleasurable and hassle free.  Rachna was thorough and took care of all the details.  Rahul and his car service took great care of us.  The proprietors atApartment 18 made sure all of our needs were met.  This all made the process so much less stressful for us.

A marriage of males is brewing his son in a rented womb in India. A judge ordered the Civil Registry Argentina Buenos Aires to join the consulate of that country to the creature as Argentina and daughter of the two men.

In a landmark ruling, Judge Buenos Aires in Administrative and Tax Liberatori Elena recognized the co-parenting of two men who have a child through a rented womb in India. The judgment-which agreed orders Página/12- marriage both partners are registered as parents of the child, formulated with the technique of in vitro fertilization, the egg donated by a young Canadian woman and sperm from one , carrying a pregnant woman from New Delhi. The birth, as reported by this newspaper when told the story of this couple, is scheduled for early July. "This ruling is part of the draft civil code promoted by President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, which regulates, among other aspects of pregnancy-specific recognition by substitution co-parenting procreational based on the will of the people. This will avoid situations of discrimination affecting the interests of the child, "said constitutional lawyer Pagina/12 Andres Gil Dominguez, who is gay marriage legal.
At the same time, is based on a decision issued earlier this month by the Secretary of Justice of the City, Javier Buján, whereby it ordered the Civil Registry of the City of Buenos Aires that "henceforth acknowledge and proceed enrollment of children / ace, whose parents happen to be of the same sex while respecting the terms of Law 26,618 (equal marriage), avoiding harmful or discriminatory add record, and equating the same without distinguishing between items of children / as, or references to sexual orientation of their parents / as ".
The judge did result Liberatori an appeal filed by the two dads: A. G., 35, and C. D. 40. For now prefer to keep their names confidential. 12 years ago are a couple, told this newspaper. A. G. works in a mobile entertainment company. C. D. is manager of laboratory operations in industrial processes. The problem faced is that India does not give citizenship to the creature concocted by rented womb, unlike what happens in the U.S., where children or children born by this procedure in this country have a U.S. passport. "We can not take the country unless the Argentine nationality give Argentina and say that the baby is our son," explained A. G.

Prospective parents and I looked at the Foreign Ministry responded that the decision actually depended on the Civil Registration of Persons of the City of Buenos Aires, as the consular office in New Delhi functioned as a delegation from the dependence of Buenos Aires. Then appealed to the Civil Registry and said that the Consulate had the authority to record the birth certificate and give it an ID annotating the two as parents. Given this situation, they generated doubts about who had the power to make the process they need to get back from India to Argentina with his son or daughter, presented the amparo.
The judge based his decision to warn that the scenario posed "a situation of inequality and discrimination against couples made up of two men," since you can already enroll a child as a daughter or son of two mothers, who also resorted to assisted fertilization. "An issue not less that this case raises is that it is in play right to the identity of the unborn child," argued the magistrate. The appeal for protection "for the purpose of throwing bureaucratic problems at the time of birth of the child / to which might be prejudicial to their rights and force in the Republic of Argentina-by-case basis, if considered a stateless person," said Liberatori in resolution, which authorized the registration of Uma and son Tobias C. D. and A. G. The judge noted in his statement that "the most important element in determining the parentage of a child born by artificial insemination, as formal legal category, is the will or decision that being born, not only as final and efficient cause infungible (for that particular birth), but because other elements, biological (or genetic) may be replaced all.

We have much to celebrate within our SCI family.Over the last few days, we have celebrated the spectrum of the going home process, from the birth of babies to getting on the plane and finally going home. This is what SCI is all about, making families complete and sending them home.

What a wonderful day, the 12th of March - 5 babies born

What a wonderful day the 12th of March was for families from Australia, Canada and Japan who all welcomed their babies into the world.

From Australia : Ivy & James- our leap year twins

Congratulations to Krissie & Jim on the birth of their leap year babies, Ivy & James.

We are very pleased and honoured to parents such as Krissie & Jim share their stories with us. On average, twins make up 30% of all births at SCI with the majority of births being singletons.

The professionalism and expertise that was evident throughout the pregnancy by yourself and members of your staff only confirmed that our journey with you was the right choice.  We would like to acknowledge the support we received not only from yourself, but also from your staff throughout our pregnancy; it far exceeded our expectations.  There has always been someone who is readily able to answer any question that we had, regardless of the hour and how minor the question may have been.
