From Canada: A bouquet of beauty

For those who ask about sending their precious embryos to Delhi, let us present this bouquet of gorgeous babies. We continue to receive shipments of embryos, eggs and sperm from around the globe on a weekly basis and these beautiful flowers are the result of one such shipment from Canada.

Dear Dr. Shivani,

We would like to thank you and your wonderful staff at SCI for helping give us the best gift in life.  When we started this journey 9 months ago, it was a glimmer of hope.  We did a lot of research, talked to others who were clients at your facility and decided to give it a chance, not even meeting you or the facility in person.
We sent our precious frozen embryos through cyro shipping across the world and it worked, our surrogate was pregnant with twins on the very first try!!  Throughout the pregnancy we were always well informed on the babies’ progress and when we emailed questions, whether day or night, they were always answered promptly.

We are forever grateful for the precious gifts we never thought we would have!

Sandy, Devony, Makenna & Rylan

We wish this family the most joyous of blessings.

From Australia: Dad's destiny fulfilled in a picture perfect life

Dad's destiny fulfilled in a picture perfect life

HAROLD David never dreamed of becoming a dad a few years ago - the single gay photographer just didn't think it was possible.

But with the help of a surrogate program in India, the Sydney snapper today celebrates his first Father's Day as the loving dad to six-month-old twins Franklin and Henry.

"Being a dad means everything to me," David told The Sunday Telegraph from his home in Sydney's west.

"I am over the moon. This is my world now.

"When this happened I just knew this is what I was destined to do and be."

Becoming a father was an 11-month process for David, who engaged the services of doctor Shivani Sachdev-Gour, of New Delhi's Surrogacy Centre India.

"Dr Shivani led me by the hand the whole way, I trusted her completely," he said. "She sent me lots of options for surrogates and I chose. We got pregnant straight away with twins and nine months later, I had my babies. It was very straightforward."

In total, David paid up to $45,000, including the cost of two trips to India.

Dr Shivani's services cost between $22,000 and $28,000 and clients can choose to pay more if they require an egg donor in addition to a surrogate mother.

Prospective women are heavily screened and must be married and finished with having children before undertaking surrogacy.

David used his sperm and chose to pay extra for an "educated egg donor", meaning his sons' biological mother has a university degree.

"The woman had her masters degree in psychology so the eggs cost $1000 more," he explained. "I paid extra money for a certain set of criteria."

David, 50, moved to Australia from the United States in 1995. He is single but had been in a relationship for 15 years previously.

David is one of our most respected fashion photographers, with his work featured in magazines including Vogue, Marie Claire, Harper's Bazaar, and Grazia.

As a freelance photographer, his work hours change weekly so he has three different nannies on call to help with caring for his boys.

"I have always wanted to be a father," he said.

"I remember the one thing my mother said to me when I told her I was gay is that it is really sad because you're never going to have a family. It is fantastic to live in a world where that is not the case and I feel really good about that."

David met Henry and Franklin's surrogate mother after their birth. He has decided they will have no contact with her, although they have the option of getting in touch with her through SCI at any time.

David concedes surrogacy is a controversial issue but to those that don't agree, he says: "I don't care what they think. It is none of my business what they think. These guys are going to have such a rich and fortunate life."

From Sri Lanka & Australia - a bundle of joy

After many years of trying; after giving up hope, this lovely family is completed. More than ever imagined, or thought possible, a much loved and wanted bundle of joy.

We wish them the happiest blessings and thank them for their kind words.

Dear Dr Shivani,

Our heartfelt thanks for our 3 little miracles that you and the SCI Clinic helped us to bring in to this world. Not only did your clinic make it possible to make our dream come true but also it seemed so simple and natural, made so by the staff of your clinic.

Our special thanks to Rachna, Lalit, Yogita, Gourav, Margarida and Meg (Australia) to mention a few I made personal contact with and all the others behind the scenes who were so prompt and patient in replying our various queries.

We have no hesitation in recommending your clinic and I believe at least 3 parties have contacted you after our recommendations.

Thank you once again,

Let's help get Master Cheeks and Princess back HOME

We have all been following Bernadette and Duane's story of Master Cheeks and the Princess, for those of you new to this, you can catch up here: http://www.rastalesstraveled.com/

Bernadette has been incredibly brave and resilient ( in other words, a Mommy), dealing with extra-ordinary circumstances that no one in our surrogacy community could anticipate, plan for or had to deal with.

And while this time in Delhi has had its blessings and challenges, it is time for this family to go home.

There is a small hic- cup to this plan, a small matter of $25,000 USD. Many of you have asked how can we help? Well, we are starting a collection to assist this amazing family to get back home .
The easiest way to do this is via  https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/send-money-online  with payments made directly to Bernadette and Duane:bmhunton@gmail.com .  I know that any assistance will be much appreciated. I am told that if you mark this as a gift, B& D will have less fees, but i am not sure how to do this...

We know how generous our community is, thank you for considering this..

From Belgium : Twins!

For some families, everything takes that bit longer, but the end result is well worth the wait. These parents went to the end's of the world to have their babies and had to wait for bureaucratic process in their home country to work through the hoops and hurdles that go with bringing your baby home. One of the challenges of being a 'first'

But after years of infertility and finally getting and staying pregnant, this has just become a part of story full of courage and determination to become parents.

And the end result, well worth the wait and just perfect :)

                                                           Dear Dr Shivani,
We hope all goes well with SCI. After 105 days in New
Delhi, the Belgian government finally allowed us to find our house

Rose and Eliott are doing very well, they already have 5 months now.
These are real little loves. We still can not realize the luck and
happiness that we had to find you on our way. We think every day Rxxx,
we hope that she and her family are well.
Best regards,
J &  C

From the U.S: a beautiful baby girl

As with many families, the journey to SCI is not smooth or kind. It is with great joy and delight when we can help families achieve their much longed for dream and finally have their baby, this is one such family

Words cannot express how thankful we are to Dr. Shivani for creating the Surrogacy Program at SCI.  We realize that without this program we would not have been able to have our own biological child.  After more than 4 years of pursuing IVF in the U.S. unsuccessfully, with countless exams, doctors, tests, expenses and disappointments, we were resigned to the fact that a biological child was not in our future. Our last reproductive endocrinologist suggested that we try to use a gestational carrier as a final attempt before pursuing other options, as the cause of our recurrent early pregnancy loss was unclear.

With no knowledge of surrogacy, we scoured the internet for information.  After reviewing many options we were most impressed with the experience and success of Dr. Shivani's clinic.  The testaments on the SCI Clinic Blog were invaluable for both information and to inspire some confidence that surrogacy abroad was a viable, and in many ways, a better option for us than pursuing this in the USA. Armed with this knowledge and with a leap of faith, we traveled to New Delhi to visit the clinic and meet Dr. Shivani and the Staff in person. This visit helped us finalize our decision and we moved forward.

We followed Dr. Shivani's advice in terms of cycling and sending our frozen embryos to optimize our chances and the end result was the birth of our healthy daughter. It is very intimidating and stressful to be halfway around the world from your growing baby but the clinic gave us constant updates to ease our anxiety. When we returned to New Delhi for the birth of our child, the clinic had arranged everything for us, including advice on where to stay, sending a representative to meet us the day of her birth, and promptly processing the needed documentation for the process to return with our daughter to the U.S.

After the birth of our daughter, we had an opportunity to reunite with our surrogate and one of her children to give one last word of thanks. That brief meeting made the whole process come full circle and we left with the thought, " two families changed for the better, forever".

In particular, we would like to personally thank both Rachna and Gourav for their professionalism. Rachna helped us so much when we came to pick up our child... it was truly a pleasure working with her. She is a credit to the clinic.

Special thanks to all the bloggers as well as Meg and Margarida for giving us the feeling that this was a viable option.

Dr. Shivani, again, we cannot thank you enough.  You have given us a priceless gift.  Thank you for giving us this opportunity.  Thank you for you taking care of our growing child and surrogate.  Thank you for your compassion and medical expertise.

We are so in love with our beautiful daughter. We will let her know how you all helped her come into this world.

We wish this special family the choicest of God's blessings.

From the U.S : Two Daddies

Some stories are best left to parent words and pictures, and what beautiful thoughts and pictures they are:

Ethan

Dear Dr. Shivani,

Today we prepare to head back home to the United States to conclude this near 1-year journey that has culminated in making our family a reality. We are so blessed to have Ethan with us and we want to thank you for everything you have done for us. The past 9 months in particular have been filled with excitement, joy, nervousness, anxiety, and suspense, all which culminated to the sheer euphoria that we have felt holding Ethan in our arms for the first time. We also know that both you and the SCI staff, as well as Megan, have shared our emotional roller coaster ride with us. You have provided us with support and guidance, and we can't thank you enough for doing what you do.

As we leave India we take with us joyous memories of meeting everyone involved, both at SCI and at Delhi Newborn Center. Although our stay has been brief, what we have experienced here in Delhi will stay us for the rest of our lives. It has truly been a life-changing event. We were so happy to have the opportunity to take a picture with you and Ethan at SCI, and we would like you to share that with others on your blog. We have also chronicled our journey with you, and celebrate the arrival of Ethan, through our own blog: http://ourgeminidragons.emaginations.com/wp/  We would be delighted to have you share it with other IP's on your website and include us in your ever-expanding family of SCI parents.

Thank you for making our dreams, and the dreams of countless others, come true every day. You give to all of us the gift of the miracle of life, and through it, a life with never-ending joy and happiness. We hope to celebrate another miracle with you in the future!

Sincerely,

John, Michael & Ethan

From the US and Spain: a Daddy & Papá

We'll just let this photo and statement speak for itself. For those of you who want to know more about this amazing story, you can read about it here: http://jasonandadrian.blogspot.com.au/

Dear Dr. Shivani and everyone at SCI --

As I write this, Olivia is asleep on my chest and Adrιán is feeding Clara near a window overlooking a Delhi skyline.  It's the morning after our first truly sleepless night on our own with our daughters, and we're a little groggy, but happy.  We spend a lot of time staring at them, as they eat, as they sleep, just letting it sink in that they're real and they're ours.

Even under the best of circumstances, having a baby via IVF literally on the other side of the world is a daunting experience, in some ways even moreso for a gay couple.  How will we be treated?  Will two men having a baby (or two!) be an issue?  At SCI, we were treated with warmth and respect.  You and your team did so much to demystify the process for us and patiently answered all our questions over the course of more than a year, as we investigated surrogacy options and saved our pennies.  When other clinics took days to answer our questions, if they answered at all, we always received a response from someone at SCI within hours, even before we were officially clients.  That level of attention continued throughout our pregnancy.

Thank you so much for your professionalism and your warmth.  There's no better testimony to what you do than the tiny girl sleeping on my chest right now.

Much love,

Jason, Adrián, Olivia and Clara

Querida Dra. Shivani,

thoughts & feelings with a touch of sleep deprivation

We are always touched when parents express their thanks to us, but there is always something very special when people take the time to personally express their thankfulness in their own word. This is even more touching when you take into account that all are experiencing the wonders of much wanted, much desired, sleep deprivation...
