SBS forum program Insight will next week look at the issue of commercial surrogacy.
Host Jenny Brockie will guide a discussion about the challenges, laws and ethics of the practice. The forum will bring together ethicists, legislators, surrogate mothers, infertile couples and children born through reproductive technologies, to voice their opinions on the topic.
Guests will include family law specialist Stephen Page, NSW Minister for Community Services Linda Burney and Sam Everingham, a Melbourne-based surrogacy advocate intending to become a parent with his partner Phil through SCI.
The debate will continue online at sbs.com.au/insight, where viewers can leave comments or ask guests their own questions in a live chat after the show. Twitter and Facebook followers can also join in the discussion.
Insight’s commerical surrogacy special will air on Tuesday, March 22 at 7.30pm on SBS ONE.

Well done to everyone involved in organising this. I really wanted more time for Dr Shivani to give it to the ethicist Reneta.....she seemed very much like an old bitter twisted woman and uncapable of understanding that another woman may in fact want to help another woman out of the goodness of her heart and for it to not just be about money. Linda Burney seemed very uncomfortable and presented without any backbone to any of her arguments.
ReplyDeleteDr Shivani, we are very proud to be associated with you and for patience with the other narrow minded guests.
ReplyDeleteWell done Dr Shivani! You handled youself so well. Sam - awesome job!
